Downtown Association
names new board members
By Tim Fields
FAIRFIELD - Members of the Fairfield Downtown Association elected local
business owners Anthony Brantley, Gary Dyas and Catherine Jasso as their
new board members, FDA staff said on Thursday.
While the new board members start their three-year terms immediately,
the Fairfield City Council will need to confirm the election results in
August.
"Brantley and Jasso have already been board members before and have contributed
so much to the revitalization of downtown," said Emily Low, the FDA's
director. "As far as Gary Dyas, we're looking forward to the new guy."
The FDA is a non-profit that uses its members' dues, that are based on
an individual's annual sales, to promote business in downtown Fairfield.
There are 11 members on the board and about 215 members belong to the
organization.
Jasso is the owner and broker of Pacific California Realty at 1116 Texas
St. She just finished a two-year term on the board and has called Fairfield
home for 20 years.
"I've raised three daughters and four grandsons in Solano County so I've
got an invested interest in Fairfield," she said.
She joined the FDA years ago because of the lack of business coming through
downtown. So rather than sitting around and doing nothing, she decided
to do something about it, she said.
Her major goals will be to continue pushing for clean store fronts and
to resolve issues regarding the homeless population in downtown.
Brantley is the owner and chief instructor of Brantley's Taekwondo Studio
at 902 Texas Street.
He is a veteran of the Marine Corps and lived in Fairfield for 27 years.
Brantley served on the Promotions Committee and assisted with the Farmers
Market and Fairfield Downtown Day for Youth.
Dyas lives in Suisun City and works for Community Home Lending.
Dyas also operates a business selling promotional items and has assisted
companies implement marketing campaigns.
"More participation from other business owners is critical to make downtown,
overall, a better place," Jasso said. "We're trying to make it a great
place for everyone."
