First permanent assignment was Fort Lewis, Washington. I was a Huey helicopter crew chief for most of the three years I was there. I was in the 411th Transportation Company.

3. Letter 011300 I was assigned there from Mar 75 til I think Feb 78 when I was reassigned to 147th Avn in HI. I can remember many names from that time if you need some to research. I am not living in Tennessee and working for a contractor at the Airfield on Fort Campbell. I believe I still have a 411th unit patch somewhere if you'd like a photo copy of it. When I was there I had the distinct privelege of being one the Crew Chief on one of our 2 organic hueys even though I was really a 67U Chinook Mech by training. Then Lt Fletcher was my platoon leader for much of the time I was there. I remember Capt Shannon was my first CO and Capt Penwell was the secone and I believe Capt Hoppes was there when I PCS'd out. They already knew they were disbanding when I left. Anyway, I thought I'd just say hello and see if you needed anymore info from an old guy that used to be there. In many ways, that was my favorite assignment in the army.

My room was south corner top 3rd floor - great view. A buddy of mine would fly his model plane out on the big parade field on the other side of Liggett Ave. Looks like some major construction work on interior courtyard.

Approx. 1 week at 45J2T ...not much work so begin OJT 90 days in Airframe Repair mostly on Hueys UH (Utility Helicoptor).
MOS: Airframe Repair 68G20 ...was accepted as 2ndary MOS.
