Got the choice corner room!

Florio - wasn't that his name? He was cooking spaghetti on his hot plate.

My car is down in front.

Wow what a sight with snow on the flight line and Cobras in the back. I was standing outside our hangar.

Does it look lived in?! American flag replaced Zig-Zag man - I inherited some furniture like the sheet metal table.

Another room view - OK let's make that bed trooper!

I got that TV for $100 from another trooper. It finally went kaput in about 2002 or 25 years later. More of my artwork on the wall.

This was my boss when I first came to 411th Trans. Co., Ft. Lewis. Can't remember his name - but I was only with him for about a week before I got bored and moved over to the sheet metal shop. Nice guy, easy going. We painted a playgrounf my first week - that's how dead it was - fixing armorment systems on Cobras is a war time job. I bet the guys 45J20s are busy in Iraq!

1978 Back to main index

I was in the auto body business! Here's a buddy in front of another one I was working on. I was on some painfull all night guard duty and the Duty Officer was a Captain that needed his Jeep repainted. I had to take rust off of the interior floor bed - what fun. I probably charged a couple of hundred bucks for the work - a real deal for them.

You were only supposed to work on your own car at the base auto body shop - but I got along with the head painter civilian well and he let it slide. He taught me a lot.

Dan's Cougar was next - I guess I was busy after work and on the weekends.

This was metallic paint so I watched how to do it this time. You painted some layers, then you misted on the metallic if I remember right. Then final clear coats.

My 10 gallon aquarium with Piranhas Wikipedia Info When I went out of the service I gave the fish, Hansel and Gretel to Dan Richison. They got big. We would darken the room, feed them meal worms when they were small. They were shy initially and wouldn't eat in front of us but we would just wait up to an hour. Then as they got bigger it was gold fish. I had another tank and had to clean it out so put tiger barbs with them - they are the only fish that could hold their own against the Piranhas. They were smaller, faster and aggressive - they would just whip around and nip at their tails. Eventually the poor Piranhas just sat facing out from the corner of the tank.

My cassette deck and stereo - I had a pretty mean sound system for that time.
