If I remember right we (Rog, Tara, Shelly, Dorie? and myself) all dressed up a bit and went to the crazy Castro Street festivities.
It was a carnival scene. I remember there was this gay guy dressed up as a waiter and roller skating around. I was amazed because he was also holding a tray of drinks as he was flying around, not spilling a drop. Upon my questioning he turned it upside down, they were trick glasses glued to the tray.

My time to hold down the fort with Rick on vacation.
Unemployment goes up and businesses stop hiring - recruitment ad agencies get hit first. Lisa Rogers and Rick Golan sacked sometime between 03/17/82 and 07/1982. (I got a review from Rick Golan 03/17/1982). I'm thrust into the art director position which lasts just a number of months when they fold the office.
I remember the Creative Director, Steve Mitchell, from the corporate office (Palo Alto) came up to the office and said "we're closing it down, take whatever you want!" He also said "get out of recruitment advertising", I didn't and eventually went to the competition.
He said to take drafting tables, t-squares, lamps - many things I still have in our present office. This helped me start my freelance business. Have never done it before, it was tough going and a lot to learn plus I was still carrying a double major at the Art Academy and USF.

Fortunately my biggest freelance client Bernard Schank Advertising hired me full-time in their office in downtown Mt. View (no longer there) the following January 1983.
Actually was a beautiful commute along I-280, past Crystal Springs Reservoir in my little sporty Datsun 240Z.
