First day was straight up the mountain. Jon Berg taking a turtle break. Frame0101

Evening by the campfire - click on photo for larger view - you'll see Jon glowing in the upper background. Our campsite was somewhere in the "Granite Park" near Italy Pass. Frame0103

Taking break by a snow surrounded pond. Click on photo to enlarge - Skeegan and Jon on a granite slab. There is a waterfall feeding the pond. This could be our campground. Frame0114

Everything is breathtaking in the high sierra. Frame0222

See the PANO PHOTO from Italy Pass. Middle of pano: Mt. Hilgard 13,361 ft. To the right is Mt. Gabb ~13,600 ft. Frames0201-20

This was Lake Italy (or Jumble Lake?)... in July... it had been one of the heaviest winter snow falls in years. The trail continues down to the lake but it was snow bound and probably plenty of deadly weak spots and crevices. Frame0223

Coming back down, Jon boulder hopping. On the right - Mt. Julius Caesar 13,195 ft. Frame0229
