Ronald Russo was a mentor of mine - I don't know if he really knew it - but he was.
Ron Russo, Chief Naturalist
Interpretive and Recreation Services Division
Ron graduated from California State College in Sacramento in 1965 with a degree in Park Management. He has been with the Park District since 1966. As a naturalist on and off the job, he has specialized in many areas of natural history including mushrooms, sharks, plant galls, and marine biology. He has taught for the University of California Extension at Berkeley and the California College of Arts and Crafts. He enjoys writing and has published several articles on a variety of subjects. His books on "Plant Galls of the California Region," "Pacific Intertidal Life," and "Mammal Finder - A Guide to Tracks, Scat, Skulls and Mammals of Pacific States", are widely used. Ron also enjoys scuba diving, underwater photography, and music.
