Subject:
An Evening of Wine & Chocolate

Purpose
An annual event to raise funds for public art projects in Downtown Fairfield, held in conjunction with the Annual Candy Festival. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise enough in sponsorship dollars and from event participants to fund one art installation per year. The event will be co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fairfield-Suisun, the Fairfield Downtown Association (FDA), and the City of Fairfield.

Project Descriptions
The Fairfield Downtown Association, with support from the City of Fairfield, will work in conjunction with local artists organizations to install art pieces downtown. Types of art considered are mural projects and sculptures. The mural projects would be of the type seen in Lompoc or downtown Sacramento. They would be designed and outlined by a professional muralist but painted by local community members and children. The concept behind the art would reflect Fairfield’s agricultural heritage, military history, and civic pride.

Event
The event will be held the Friday night before the Candy Festival. In 2004, the event date will be October 8. The Evening of Wine & Chocolate will begin at 7 p.m. and last until 11 p.m.
The event will take place in downtown Fairfield, at the Center for Creative Arts. The festivities will happen under the covered tent of the courtyard and in the theater lobby. The gallery will be open for viewing.
Rotary members and FDA members will sell event tickets. Anticipated number of attendees is: 200. Ticket would be sold for $50 per person.

Proceeds
Funds will be generated in three ways: corporate sponsorship, event ticket sales, raffle ticket sales. It is the goal of this event to net $15,000.

Potential sponsors include financial institutions, law firms, food related companies (grocers, producers, manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers), and specialty or upscale retailers.

Raffle tickets would be sold for gift baskets donated by participating wine and candy companies. Both wineries and candy companies will be asked to donate gift baskets.

Activities
Local and regional wineries will be invited to sample and sell their wines. Of particular interest this night would be wines that would pair well with chocolates.

Local and international candy companies, many in the area already because of their participation in the Candy Festival, will attend to sample and sell their product as well.

Musical entertainment will be provided with a string quartet. Original art will be displayed in the courtyard and in the gallery. Artists will be invited to mingle and talk about art.
