We Do presently have a need for full-time production / graphic designer with heavy experience with computers and organization. Limited to some experience with art. We will train for areas of need. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the production / graphic design field.

Location
We are located in Fairfield. If person is outside the area, ie: Vallejo, Napa or Contra Costa we may be able to pay for commute time. We do prefer someone local.

I, Steve Garson owner of GDS, will respond fairly quickly (depending on what deadlines we're trying to get out the door!) usually by same day or 2.

If I feel you are a qualified candidate I will have you come in for a personal interview.

Remember this is a creative environment so don't sweat it! We are professional but also a rather relaxed environment.

If you come in with good computer skills and a bent toward art/design/photography - we can train the rest!

About Garson Design Services

We are a small 3 person studio in a professional home office environment. We do quality design work recognized throughout Solano County and Northern California. We provide print and web at economical prices to our clients. Our clients range from large multi-million dollar to small 1-person businesses. We service the growing Solano County area.

The Job

Production / Graphic Designer

Pay range: $8 - 12/hr depending on skill level.
Below rates are negotiable and not fixed

$8.00/hr
would be someone with excellent computer skills and bent toward art / design / photography / art production. Depending on ability to pickup the software skills we will give raise after 3 month probation period. This covers some of our time/cost to pay you to train you. (For web developer position – See list back in left column - would have some html experience).

$10.00/hr
Some experience at a newspaper, printer, or design studio, etc. Excellent organizational and computer skills. Depending on persons ability to pickup any of the missing software skills, we will give raise after 3 month probation period. (For web developer position – See list back in left column).

$12.00/hr+
Would be someone with multi year experience at another graphic design studio or ad agency experienced in all the below skills.
(For web developer position – all of list back in left column).

Production / Design / Computer / Organization Skills
• Design / Production work with using Quark, Freehand, Photoshop - we will train if you use In-Design, Illustrator
• Illustrative and / or photography skills helpful
• Client and In-House Job Costing
• Call vendors (printers, etc.) for hard costs- Find best vendor
• Work up cost est. to clients
• Insure jobs are on schedule
• P/u and delivery of items from/to vendors and clients

Other Skills
• Detail oriented
• Fast
• Self starter, problem solver
• Not afraid to ask questions
• Able to take direction
• Able to work with and without supervision
• Good with numbers
• Able to work in small home office & creative environment
• Friendly & sense of humor
• Good phone & client contact skills
• Must have car
• Lift final printed boxes up to about 50lbs.

As this we are small business benefits are limited. You are paid by the hour. It is rare but overtime hours are time and a half.

Hours
We can work around school schedules but need mostly around work hours when our clients are also working between 9am - 5:30pm Monday - Friday.
